Welcome to the Montgomery Development Education Centre (MDEC) website. MDEC is an Aberdeen based organisation, covering the whole of the North-East of Scotland. We are the education section of the Aberdeen Third World Centre. The Centre is part of the International Development Education Association of Scotland (IDEAS). This is a network of over 40 organisations and individuals involved in Development Education and Education for Global Citizenship/Sustainable Development Education across Scotland.

High Tide is a fantastic new Oxfam Global Citizenship resource for ages 9-11, looking at how communities from South Uist to Bangladesh are rising up to combat the effects of climate change.

Every term we produce two newsletters - one each for Primary and Secondary teachers - with details of our forthcoming CPD courses, resources available to borrow from MDEC and anything else we think you would find useful when incorporating Global Learning into your teaching.

School development planning and support for the 2013/14 session

We have supported several primary schools this year as they develop various local/global curricular aspects, such as:

  • Rights Respecting Schools
  • Fair Trade
  • Whole school Global Citizenship improvement-planning and auditing 

Teachers we worked with said:
