Global Learning Programme - Scotland (GLPS)

The MDEC has been appointed to deliver the GLPS across the North East of Scotland, with tailored and targetted FREE Professional Learning linking to all aspects of global citizenship in the curriculum, including

  • Learning for Sustainability
  • Rights (including RRS)
  • Fair trade
  • School partnerships (including Connecting Classrooms)

We also offer a programme of two-part twilight courses - these are ideal for individual teachers either as a starting point to develop global learning in your school or for those wishing to focus on specific curriculum areas/themes.

Please do get in touch with MDEC now to discuss your school's needs and possible dates for the rest of the 2014-15 session.

We are very happy to  provisonally book dates (eg in-service days) and finalise your detailed requirements with you nearer the time.

 Global Citizenship...

...is a key cross-curricular theme and is fully embedded across Experiences and Outcomes.

Both GTCS and the Scottish Government have significantly strengthened their commitment to Global Citizenship under the umbrella term of Learning for Sustainability.  In line with the new Professional Standards every practitioner, school and education leader should demonstrate Learning for Sustainability in their practice.

In addition, a curriculum based on Global Citizenship is core to the Rights Respecting School Award.
